I was asked to creatively link the Performing & Visual Art Departments at this university.  Pythagoras' discovery of the harmonic mathematic proportions of unison, octaves & intervals in sound creates a leaf-like form, which we then cut from the center of 5 stone blocks.  These 5 stone cutouts were rounded out and finished to stand independently in a semi-circle. The frames, now with negative spaces inside, are arranged throughout the space to invite investigation & interaction. The natural proportions utilized in making this sculpture are also used in other visual arts taught at the school, thus linking both music and art departments. My hope is that all students, faculty and visitors can perform in, exhibit art within and explore the site for many years to come.
